Forbes, Elaine (Paul)

Elaine Forbes, age 77, of Appleton, died after a courageous battle with cancer, Elaine entered God’s Kingdom and celebrated with Jesus on his birthday, Christmas morning. Elaine was born to Sophie (Hook) and James Paul on September 5, 1930, in Knowlton, WI. She lived for a time with the Meis and Burrough, her extended families, who she dearly loved. She moved to Milwaukee and met Melvin T. Forbes and married him on September 16, 1949. She lived many places including Germany following Melvin in his military career. In 1960 they moved to Appleton, WI. She was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mentor and friend. She was always there for everyone and offered help to those who needed it. Elaine is survived by her children, Diane (Larry) Hupf, Greenville, WI; Darlene McQuain, Appleton; Michael Forbes, Big Falls, WI; Patrick (Jo) Forbes, Arizona; grandchildren, Chad (Shalomie) Martin, Kevin (Jill Zielinski) Martin, Christopher (Teresa Sumner) Forbes-Hupf, Wendy (Jeff) Schmidt, Jeremy Forbes; great grandchildren, Jayden Martin and Colton Schmidt; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth and Jean; brother-in-law, John; many nieces and nephews; special friends Tom and Patty Luey, Dave and Barb Gerdin and Dixie DeWall. She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin and his parents, Raymond and Jessie Forbes, Her parents James and Sophie Paul, her sister, Opal Riley, brothers, James Paul, Andrew Paul and Bernard Meyer. Elaine’s wishes were to have no funeral services. Family graveside services will be held in the spring, her favorite time of year, at Appleton Highland Memorial Park.
