Earl “Butch” LeRoy Swick, 75, of Winneconne passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 24, 2009 on his annual fall Minnesota fishing trip with beloved family and friends.
Butch was born on July 5, 1934 to the late Glen and Anna (Willis) Swick in Kimberly. Earl married Jean Daelke on October 23, 1954. He was in the National Guard, Company D, for 6 years and retired from American Can in Menasha after 38 years, working as a pressman and a solvent blender. Butch was a member of the Retirees Club in Menasha and the First Presbyterian Church in Winneconne. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, traveling with his family, and more fishing. Butch is survived by his wife Jean Swick, 5 children; Julie (Donald) Hammen, Kaukauna, Terry Sue VanderWielen, Neenah, Ken (Jacqueline) Swick, Menasha, Connie (Steve) Towlerton, Waterloo, IA, and Karen (Duane) Kuba, Omro, 13 Grandchildren, Christy (Todd), Carrie (Jon), Andy, Dana, Craig (Amanda), Sarah (Joey), Amy (Steve), Wade, Graham, Courtney, Faye (Brian), Krystal and Amber, 9 great-grandchildren, Phoenix, Katelyn, Emily, McKenzie, Lydia, Lainey, Karter, August and Logan. Butch is further survived by brothers and sisters, Marilyn Kamps, Patricia (Adrian) VandeBurgt, Richard (Margie)Swick, Jacqueline (Dave) Vandhey, Jill (Tom) Haufe, Sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Swick, Judy (James) Gavert, Jean Gilson, a brother-in-law, David (Brenda) Lautenschlager and a special cousin, Roger (Corrine) Schroeder, a God daughter, Cheryl (Ralph) Carpenter, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Earl was preceded in death by one beloved granddaughter, Kimberly Swick, 2 brothers Glen “Bill” Swick and Roy Swick, a brother-in-law, John Kamps and a nephew, Mark Swick.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at 11 am at the Memorial Presbyterian Church, 803 E. College Ave., Appleton, with Pastor Mara Rivera officiating. Friends may call on Monday, September 28, 2009 from 4 until 8 pm at the Wichmann Funeral Home, and on Tuesday from 9 am until the time of services at the Church. Burial will be in the Highland Memorial Park.
