FRAZIER, DREW “CARL”

Drew Carl Frazier (Carl), 83, passed away Saturday Dec.19, 2009, at the Appleton Health Center surrounded by his wife and family. Carl was born September 14, 1926 in Warm Springs, Arkansas to Virgie Bell (Nipps) and Claude Benjamin Frazier. On July 27, 1947 after only 3 months of courting, Carl married Orpha Adeline Hamilton, his bride of 62 years. For over 60 years, Carl was a minister of the gospel working with Churches of Christ, predominately throughout the state of Wisconsin, serving and loving God, his family, friends, neighbors and many strangers. Carl was instrumental in founding the Wisconsin Christian Youth Camp in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. He spent many years on the board of directors as well as in many other various positions. He was also the founder of “Homes Open Wide”, a children's service organization. In the community, Carl was active with Little League Baseball, coaching for many years. He also loved to sing and play guitar. Carl even spent several years singing with his children in the family a capella gospel music group, “The Frazier Family Singers”. Carl played a mean game of Ping Pong and was very athletic, playing Sunday afternoon football with his kids and grandkids until into his 70's. He not only loved to play sports, he loved to watch them, especially the Packers. He also enjoyed deer hunting with the boys. Carl will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Orpha and their eight children, Brenda (Susie Rodger) Frazier, Arena, WI; Dennis Frazier, Memphis, TN; Diane (David) Edwards, Beaver Dam, WI; Stephen (Ann) Frazier, Oshkosh, WI; Kathleen (Mark) Knoll, Beaver Dam, WI; Allen (Pamela) Frazier, Searcy, AK; Curtis (Karen) Frazier, Appleton, WI; and Bryan (April) Frazier, Searcy, AK. Also by 24 grandchildren: Todd (Susan) Frazier, Tonya (Dean) Luck, Kimberly Frazier, Jonathan (Charmaine) Frazier, Melissa Frazier, Eric Frazier, Benjamin Frazier, Carly (Jeremy) Kidd, Michelle (Jason) Garris, Erin (Ryan) Slattery, Hannah (Richard) Putnam, Andrew Frazier, Stephanie Frazier, Bethany (Rob) Nill, Courtney Knoll, Shawn (Katie) Frazier, Cameron Frazier, Melanie Frazier, Chelsea Frazier, Megan (Tyler) Lingenhag, Samantha Frazier, Kathryn Frazier, Alecia Frazier and Lydia Frazier. 2 step Grandchildren Michael Edwards and April Edwards; 24 Great Grandchildren and 2 more due this summer; his sister, Frieda Brooks and his brother, Ralph (Flois) Frazier; Sister-in-Law, Donna Frazier; many other family members and close friends. Carl was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Virgie Bell Frazier, his in-laws John and Golda Hamilton, brother, Homer Frazier; sister, Rita Leonard; brother in-laws Herbert Leonard, Hoover Brooks and Walter Hamilton; Great Grandson Samuel L. Putnam and one great, great granddaughter Savanah Diane Thomas. Carl's life will be celebrated at a memorial service on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 in Appleton, Wisconsin, at MASON STREET CHURCH OF CHRIST, 2600 N. Mason Street, Appleton, WI 54914, with Rev. John Mooney officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:30 PM and the memorial service will begin at 4:00 PM. The family has requested in lieu of flowers donations be made to Wisconsin Christian Youth Camp general fund at 2750 Saemann Ave, Sheboygan, WI 53081, Attn: Guy Marshall, Treasurer, WCYC. The family would also like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Appleton Health Center for their loving care.
