Dorothy Jean Vander Velden, 63, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2013 following a courageous battle with cancer at Appleton Medical Center.

Dorothy was born on December 15, 1949 to Walter and Arlene (Faulks) Wadel. She married Ken Vander Velden on December 15, 1999, in Appleton. Dorothy enjoyed volunteering at the Saxeville community food pantry. She also loved camping, Fishing and drinking a cup of coffee on her deck with family and friends.

Dorothy is survived by three children; Anita (Michael) Pemberton, Christopher (Rae lyn Johnson) Sorensen, Michelle (Micheal) Barth; two step sons; Todd (Cassandra) Vander Velden, Mark Vander Velden four grandchildren: Amanda, Duncan, Conner and Jarred, two brothers; Wally (Linda) Wadel, Steve (Judy) Wadel, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Jerry, Don (Vonnie), Lori, John, Tim (Jo), Bill (Donna), Dave (Rose), Dina (Scott), Dan (Patti), Jane (Orville), and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a sister Ruth Ann.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME TRI COUNTY CHAPEL, 3212 S. Oneida St. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the staff on the Oncology floor at Appleton Medical Center, Dr. Guenther and Dr. Vogt, and a special thanks to Melissa, Sue and “Eye Candy” Ben.

Memorials may be made to the Saxeville Community Food Pantry.
