Dorothy Mae Kempen

August 7, 2008 — August 7, 2008

Dorothy Kempen, age 75, passed away at Cherry Meadows Hospice early on Thursday, August 7, 2008. Dorothy was born in Little Chute on October 18, 1932, daughter of the late Walter and Ida (Natrop) Romenesko. She graduated from St. John High School in Little Chute, and attended the Kaukauna Normal School for two years. For some time, Dorothy worked in the area as a beautician, but later became employed by Tuttle Press (Hoffmaster) where she worked until her retirement.

In her early years, Dorothy enjoyed skiing and later in life took up bowling. She will be remembered by all as an excellent seamstress, and a very active woman who always kept up with the current events. Dorothy was a member of the Red Hat Society, a local singles group, and enjoyed attending events at the Performing Arts Center with her friends. Dorothy was also very proud of her affiliation with the Democratic Party, and volunteered for the cause at every opportunity.

Survivors include her daughter: Sandy (Joseph) Wetzel of Appleton and their children: Rachelle Rusch, Christopher Rusch, and Autumn Wetzel; there are two sons: Kevin (Denise) Kempen and Brian (Melissa) Kempen, both of Appleton; a sister-in-law: Sheila Romenesko of Darboy; a cousin and dear friend: Rosalie Natrop of Kaukauna; as well as several nieces, a nephew, other relatives, and many friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Marvin Romenesko, an infant sister Mary, and her former husband Giles Bucky Kempen.

The funeral liturgy for Dorothy will be held at 5:00 PM on Monday, August 11, 2008 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Combined Locks, with Fr. Dennis M. Ryan officiating. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 3:00 PM until the hour of the service at 5:00 PM

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the wonderful caregivers at ThedaCare at Home as well as the entire staff at Cherry Meadows. You took care of our mom like she was your own your kindness and care will never be forgotten.
