HINZE, DORIS RUTH

Doris Ruth Hinze, age 91, passed away in the presence of family and friends on Friday, January 14, 2010, at Crestwood Senior Living in Darboy. Doris was born on January 2, 1920, in Milwaukee, to the late Albert F. and Martha (Schaefer) Hinze. She graduated from North Division High School in Milwaukee and attended the Technical School there. Doris enjoyed office work at Nunn-Bush Shoe Company, Milwaukee (7 1/2 years); Trinity Lutheran Church, Appleton (18 1/2 years); and the Kimberly Area School District (19 years). Doris was accorded a life-time membership at Trinity Lutheran Church, Appleton and the United Lutheran Church Women. She was an active, lifetime member of the United Church of Christ. Doris had been a member of the Appleton Art Center, Friends of Hearthstone and the Kimberly Homemakers. She enjoyed drawing and painting; traveling near and far, including sailing across the Atlantic Ocean and back, the Mediterranean, Aegean and Marama Seas, on big ships. Survivors include her brother, the Rev. Don (Natalie) Hinze, Waupaca, Wisconsin; her nephews, David (Karry) Hinze, Lakeville, Minnesota, Joel (Diane) Hinze, Appleton, Wisconsin, and Jonathan (Julie) Hinze, Encinitas, California, Stephen (Debbie) Hinze, Santa Cruz, California, and Jeffrey (Cara), Green Bay, Wisconsin; her nieces, Emily (Matthew) Grimmer, Delafield, Wisconsin, Dina Gosse (Aaron Smith), North Bend, Washington; her great nieces, Allison, Haley, Kelsey; Kambria and Kellie, and Regan, Katherine, Eva; her great nephew, Will; her great-great nephew, Jake; her sister-in-law, Marion Hinze, Lakewood, California. She is further survived by Dolly Hinze (Ray Kinney), Burnsville, Minnesota, her special friend, Karla Schmitt, DePere, Wisconsin, and other relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Vernon and Richard, and a special aunt, Elizabeth Schaefer. Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at IMMANUEL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 510 Sullivan Street, Kaukauna, with Rev. Melinda Feller officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the United Church, Kaukauna, or the charity of your choice. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the caring individuals who made it possible for Doris to stay in her home; the staff of Heartland Hospice and the caregivers at Sheelin Cottage at Crestwood Senior Living. Your kindness and help is much appreciated. Thank you so very much.
