A courageous role model and loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away Monday, September 9, 2002 at Appleton Medical Center. Doris Nagreen was truly an inspiration to her family and friends through her honesty, determination and spiritual strength. She treated others with kindness, always willing to open her heart as shown by her various volunteer efforts. She tutored elementary school children in reading, assisted those who had undergone breast cancer surgery and delivered Meals on Wheels. Doris enjoyed living in her condo community, where she took an active role serving on the board for many years including a term as president. Doris was born July 26, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois. She met and married William Hofert in Chicago and they soon moved to Neenah. Following the sudden death of William, she met and married Ralph E. Nagreen on October 14, 1972; he preceded her in death on June 10, 1992.

She is survived by her step daughter, Rochelle Nagreen Metroka and her husband Daniel of Westfield, NJ and granddaughter, Amy E. Metroka of Brooklyn, NY.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Lynne Hofert Koehler on February 27, 1998.

A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 14, 2002 at FIRST CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH of CHRIST, 734 East South River Street, Appleton with Rev. John T. McFadden officiating. No visitation is scheduled. Inurnment will be in Highland memorial park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for First Congregational United Church of Christ or the American Cancer Society.
