Dorene Battermann

April 30, 1941 — June 1, 2013

Dorene Battermann (Dots / Grandma Dots), a collector of things great and small, met her Lord Saturday evening, June 1, 2013 at her home in Greenville in the arms her family.

Dorene enjoyed collecting many things including old kitchen utensils, books of all types, Sudoku puzzles and toys for all ages. One of Dorene's favorite collections was rays of sunlight that she would catch while dangling her legs in a pool or walking along St. Pete's Beach. For over 30 years, she also collected thousands of tender touches from newborns as an RN at Appleton Medical Center. Some of her most treasured collections were joy from life's many wonders, embraces from family, memories with friends, and most importantly were the words of God and gifts of faith that gave her strength throughout life and peace in her final days.

Dorene's largest collection was the love she received and the time she spent in the presence of family. She enjoyed collecting smiles from her grandchildren and the devotion of the family dogs. Raymond and Elsie Henning, her loving parents and role models, Ronald Henning, best friend and brother, and Alexander Jacob Blob, beloved grandson, are gathered back to her collection as she joins them in heaven. Surviving her is loving husband William Battermann (Greenville, WI) who shared her love of collecting for nearly 51 years; son Daniel Battermann with his wife Kaye, and granddaughter Meghan (Greenville, WI); son David Battermann with his wife Paula (Appleton, WI); daughter Sandra Blob with her husband Troy, and granddaughters Brittany and Ashley, and grandson Alex (Greenville, WI); son John Battermann with his wife Paige, and grandsons Logan, Carter and Ryan (Chicago, IL); and son Andrew Battermann with his wife Brittany, and granddaughter Myella (Loves Park, IL). Dorene is also survived by sisters-in-law Gloria Henning-Burrow, Claire Pagel and brother-in-law Douglas Pagel, Aunt Violet Tischer and many nieces and nephews.

The only thing Dorene enjoyed more than collecting, was sharing her amazing collections with others. Though she rarely shared her own tears and pain, she freely shared her strength and all the love she stored up in her life. She passed along her great faith in Jesus Christ because she looked forward to joining His eternal collection. She sought out new friends to collect so she could share her love with them. We, who are blessed to call her mom, inherit her great love and faith and will miss her collections immensely.
