Donald Baer

Don Baer, age 91, passed away early on Wednesday morning, April 14, 2010 at a local nursing home. Don was born in Appleton on February 5, 1919, son of the late Herbert and Sarah (Last) Baer. He attended Appleton schools, and also served his country in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. After the war, he married the former Marge Steffens on January 26, 1946. The couple had enjoyed sixty-four years together. For nearly thirty years, Bud worked at Kimberly Clark's Lakeview Plant. He also enjoyed his visits with his buddies at Grishaber's.

Bud is survived by his loving wife: Marge Baer of Appleton; three children: Sandi (Darrell) Alix of Appleton, Sharon Mee of Newport News, Virginia, and Tom (Karen) Baer of Richfield; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother: Russell Baer of Arlington, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law Danny Mee, and a sister-in-law Doris Baer.

The funeral liturgy for Don will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday afternoon, April 16, 2010 at ST.MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 312 S. State Street in Appleton. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call directly at the church on Friday from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
