Delphine (Vandenberg) Dercks

June 3, 1911 — June 25, 2001

Age 90, died peacefully Monday, June 25, 2001 surrounded by her loving family at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna.

Delphine was born in Little Chute on June 3, 1911, the daughter of the late Theodore and Ella (Hartjes) DeGroot. She was a graduate of St. John High School, Little Chute, and Green Bay Business College.

She was employed at O'Connell Insurance Agency, Kaukauna and was seasonally employed later at Kaukauna Club Cheese Company and Stokely Van Camp Company. Before her retirement, she was employed in the food service program at Kaukauna High School. Following her retirement, she did volunteer work for St. Paul Home and Holy Cross School.

Delphine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and took great pride in her family. She was an excellent homemaker, and especially enjoyed cooking and sewing. Her grandchildren will fondly remember her for the many homemade treats and Hershey candy bars. Card playing, bingo, and crossword puzzles were among her many interests.

A longtime and faithful member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna, she was a member of the Altar Society, the Christian Mothers, and the Queen of Peace Choir.

On October 27, 1931, she married John L. Vandenberg. He preceded her in death on October 29, 1942. On June 19, 1950, Delphine married Richard P. Dercks. He preceded her in death on March 2, 1983.

She is survived by two daughters: Lois (nee Vandenberg) Miller of Kaukauna and Lisa (nee Dercks) and her husband Rick Kositzke of Hortonville; a son: Lyle (Kay) Vandenberg of Kaukauna; seventeen grandchildren: Tom Miller, Teri Miller, Tim (Cheri) Miller, Tamra Miller, Tracie (Tom) Zuleger, Tanya Miller, Ted Miller, Tyler Miller, Kyle (Michael) Brush, Brian (Jamie) Vandenberg, Jill (Jon) Jest, Amy (Jeff) Pricco, Sara Vandenberg, Nick Kositzke, Eric Kositzke, Greg Kositzke, and Charlie Kositzke; twelve great-grandchildren: Melissa Miller, Kurt, Kathryn, and Kyle Zuleger, Devlin, Kellen, and Tristen Brush, Cody, Mykel, and Tyler Vandenberg, and Gianna and Evan Pricco; two sisters: Belle Tulloch of Kaukauna and Barbara (Eugene) Regenfuss of California; a brother-in-law: Merle (Jayne) Vandenberg of Kimberly; and by four sisters-in-law: Helen Haupt of Appleton, Grace Dercks of Kimberly, Ceil (Alois) Vandenberg of Little Chute, and Ceil (Gordon) Vandenberg of Little Chute, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, two brothers and a sister-in-law: Joe DeGroot and Jack and Mildred DeGroot, a son-in-law: Glen Miller; an infant grandson: Toby Miller; a sister-in-law and four brothers-in-law: Margaret and Martin Wildenberg, John Dercks, John Tulloch, and Henry Haupt. Dimps was also preceded in death by many beloved Vandenberg in-laws and by numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral liturgy for Dimps will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 30, 2001 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Jack Mullarkey officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again Saturday at the church from 9:00 AM until the hour of the liturgy.

Dear Mom – Our family has been blessed with the dearest mom of all. You’re loved much more than you could ever know. We’re grateful for your love and guidance, the many sacrifices made for us, and sharing your deep, strong faith. We will treasure the precious memories of you forever. You were a super Mom. You did it all!
