Carolyn Mae Wood

August 12, 1921 — May 13, 2013

Carolyn Mae (Rooks) Wood of Sherwood passed away on May 13, 2013, at age 91. She was born in Trenton, Missouri, on August 12, 1921, to Victor Hugo Rooks and Gertrude Bliss (Scott) Rooks.

Carolyn served as an Army Air Corps Nurse during World War II, before marrying her lifelong sweetheart, and retiring to raise her family. She had numerous interests including her love of the outdoors, and spent many hours in her gardens.

She is survived by her husband: Grayson B. Wood Jr.; her son: Grayson Wood III (RI), her daughter: Amy (Wood) Rogoff; grandchildren: Alison Claire Pyle, Matthew Brady Wood, Jeff Vece, Alyssa and Jessica Rogoff, and Carolyn Rupf; great-grandchildren: Amanda and Robert Rupf, Kyle Lloyd, Micah and Willa Pyle; her dear sister: Joanne Rowoth, and many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters: Elaine Wood and Sue Ellen (Wood) Schuren; grandson: Robert Charles Schuren; and brothers Victor, Richard, Harmon, and Maurise.

A funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at the Congregational United Church of Christ, 1511 Nicolet Boulevard in Neenah. Interment will be at 2:00 PM at Riverside Cemetery in Appleton Friends may call at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior Street in Appleton on Monday, May 20th, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
