Age 61, died on Monday, August 26, 2002 at her home. Brenda was born on August 25, 1941 in Durham, North Carolina, the daughter of Thomas R. and Leola (Highsmith) Stewart. Brenda attended North Carolina State University, and received a certificate in Medical Technology from Lynchburg (Virginia) General Hospital. She and her husband David moved to Appleton with their children in 1974. Brenda was a volunteer in several organizations, and became especially active in the Outagamie County Historical Society, serving on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer. She returned to college in the early 1980’s, and received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1986. Brenda has since been employed as the Business Manager at the Winnebago Mental Health Institute in Oshkosh. She had a strong interest in genealogy, and was a member of several lineage organizations, such as the Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames of the 17th Century and the North Carolina Genealogical Society. On April 15, 1961, she married David R. Wiley, and they have enjoyed over 41 years of marriage together. Brenda is survived by her husband, David; her son, David Stuart Wiley; 2 daughters, M. Elizabeth (Steven) West, and their children, David and Brandon; Catherine A. Wiley; her sister, Elaine (David) Brown; her aunt, Frances Highsmith; her uncle, Robert Highsmith; and her nephews, Jason and Travis Brown. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas. The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, August 30, 2002 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, with Rev. Charles Valenti-Hein officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday, August 30 from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
