Betty Ehlert

October 4, 1925 — May 13, 2012

Betty Ehlert left this world for heaven on Mother's Day, May 13, 2012. She was born in Bear Creek on October 4, 1925 as the daughter of Arthur and Marie (Moriarity) Olesen. Her family moved to Clintonville when Betty was a young child. She attended St. Rose Catholic School and Clintonville High School.

Betty worked for five years at the Four Wheel Drive in Clintonville. On May 29, 1948 she married Elroy Ehlert in the St. Rose Rectory. They lived in Wisconsin Rapids for three years where Betty worked in the maternity ward of the hospital. The couple then moved to Appleton, where she spent the rest of her life.

As the mother of six, Betty spent most of her time devoted to her family. She enjoyed the simple things in life like family gatherings, dancing at weddings, time with friends, shopping, reading, going out to eat and Wilmar chocolates. She had a big heart, a great sense of humor and an extremely positive outlook on life. She was a very gentle soul. Betty is already terribly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by: her husband of 64 years Elroy; her favorite daughter Donna (and special friend Fritz); four great sons and daughters- in-law Mike (Lori), Mark (Katie), David (Deanna) and Daniel; much loved grandchildren; Shana, Ryan, Nicholas, Emily and Skyler; sisters Peggy (Jack) Berkers who was always there for her and Patricia (Donald) Prellwitz; brother Roger (Beverly)Olesen ; sisters-in-law Georgia Callaway and Dorothy Olesen; and brother-in-law Verlan Sawall; a few cousins and a number of nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by: her son Dennis; grandson Cory; sister Jerry Sawall; brother Donald; and brother-in-laws Dale Waters and Jack Callaway. She was also lucky enough to have two wonderful forever friends Evie Gelbke and Jeanette Bishop – special friendships shared for more than 50 years.

A special thanks to Theda Care Hospice for all of their help and support who made it possibly for Betty to spend her final months at home with her family.

We will celebrate Betty's precious life on Thursday, May 24, with a mass at SACRED HEART CHURCH (222 East Fremont Street, Appleton) at 11:00 AM. Visitation for family and friends prior to the mass will be held in the church's Sacred Heart room from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
