Age 85, went to be with her Lord on Monday, May 31, 2004 at Peabody Manor following a long illness. She was born on August 26, 1918 in Chicago the daughter of the late John and Elsie (Rachuj) Noffke. She married Ralph Mickley on June 20, 1942. They resided in Chicago until he preceded her in death on March 29, 1995. Berniece moved to Appleton, WI in 1996, and resided at the Heritage and later at Peabody Manor. She was a member of Celebration Lutheran Church in Appleton.
She is survived by her son Ralph (Linda) Mickley, Jr. of Pekin, IL, her daughter Kaeleen (Lou) Maylander of Appleton, her grandchildren Kristen (Todd) Kendall and Craig Mickley and Timothy Maylander, a great grandson Lucas Kendall, her sister Eleanor Parke, and her sister-in-law Marjory Noffke. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, her sister and brother-in-law Lillian (Emil) Meier, her brother Vernon Noffke, and a brother-in-law David Parke.
The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at 6:30 PM at Celebration Lutheran Church, 3100 East Evergreen Drive with the Rev. Rex Rinne officiating. Interment will take place at Bethania Cemetery in Justice, Illinois. The family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday at the church from 5:00 PM until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.
