Bernice Friday

October 15, 1922 — August 8, 2012

Bernice Friday “aka GiGi”, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, age 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at the Appleton Health Care Center. Bernice was born on October 15, 1922, daughter to the late Arnold and Ruth Zillges. She was a proud member of Mount Cavalry Lutheran Church since 1937. In 1942, Bernice married Joseph Friday, enjoying 46 years of marriage before his death in 1988.

Bernice enjoyed grocery shopping and going to garage sales. But above all, she loved spending time with her family. She will always be remembered as the best mom ever.

Bernice is survived by her son Joe (Mary) Friday of Kimberly and daughters Sandra Toonen and Pat (Dan) Paltzer, both of Appleton. She is further survived by her grandchildren; Joe (Special friend Patty) Friday, Paula (Dan) Anderson, Dan(Deanna) Friday, Brenda (Kevin) Treml, Shelly Van Dehy, Jesse (Angie) Paltzer and Jason (Amanda) Paltzer; great grandchildren; Chelsea, Chloe, Zachary, Verona, Wyatt, Brittany, Riley, Zack, Adam, Karissa, Brandon, Michael, Makenna, Brayden, Paige, Ezra and Liliana: and great-great grandchildren Carter and Cameron. Bernice will also be lovingly remembered by her sisters; Virginia (Ken) Kohl, Shirley VanderWielen and Janet (Paul) Frakes. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Ruth Zillges; husband, Joseph Friday; brothers, Gordon (Kathryn) Zillges and Russell (Gertrude) Zillges and brother-in-law James VanderWielen.

A celebration of life for Bernice will he held TUESDAY August 14, 2012 at MOUNT CALVARY LUTHERAN CHURCH, N8728 S. Coop Rd, Menasha, at 11 AM with Pastor Jesse Johnston officiating. A time of visitation will be will be held on TUESDAY August 14, 2012 from 9 AM until the time of service with a burial at Highland Memorial Park to follow. Bernice's family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff at the Appleton Health Care Center for their care and support to not only Bernice but for the entire family and to Pastor Jesse Johnston for his kindness and prayers.
