Arleen Ruth Paessler

November 18, 1915 — July 3, 2011

Arleen Ruth (Bonnin) Paessler, age 95, peacefully met her Heavenly Father on July 3, 2011. She spent her final days surrounded by family and loved ones. Arleen was born in Hortonville, WI on November 18, 1915 to the late Martin and Elsie (Morack) Bonnin. She was 1 of 4 sisters, Lila, Norma, and Velma, who also preceded her in death.

Arleen attended school in Hortonville and was Valedictorian of her graduating high school class. She enjoyed music, dance, and writing. She found great pleasure in the beauty of God's natural world. One of her favorite poems was William Wordsworth's “Daffodils,” which she continued to effortlessly recite just prior to her passing. She saw the extraordinary in the seemingly ordinary and appreciated the simple beauty gifted to each of us by God. While some might simply see daffodil flowers in the breeze, Arleen taught others to see the dance of angels round the throne of God.

A member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton since 1937, Arleen was a devout Christian woman, who truly lived a life of service to others. Raised on her parents' farm homestead, she learned the virtue of being a hard worker at a young age and developed a strong work ethic. She spent the first 20 years of her career employed with Quaker Dairy, until she transitioned to Walgreen's, where she worked another 25 years until her retirement. While at Walgreen's, she mentored, trained, and befriended many co-workers, with whom she kept in touch following her retirement.

Arleen was a breast cancer survivor who maintained an active lifestyle. She loved traveling and visited every state in the country. She enjoyed the company of family and friends, with whom she was there to celebrate each life event with vigor and optimism. Her capacity to love and be happy was boundless. She even coined her own, personal adage, “Be happy everyday and love everybody.” She was a kind soul and a giving spirit who touched everyone who knew her. To know her was to love her.

Arleen loved people and celebrating life, a value she maintained until her final breath. Her unconditional love for others was rooted in God's faithful love for her. She will forever be remembered by her devoted children, nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandchild, along with other loved ones and countless adoring friends in the community who were blessed to love and be loved by her.

Arleen is further preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Paessler, and special cousin Clarice “Sis” Stake. She is survived by daughter Peggy (Leo) Hoppe, granddaughter Lori Hoppe, granddaughter Lisa Dorn, great-granddaughter Tonya (Mark) Sepe, great-great granddaughter Kylie Rose, great-granddaughters Wittney and Kelly; son Richard (Ann) Paessler, grandson Jeff Paessler, great-grandson Ryan, grandson Michael (Ute) Paessler, great-grandchildren Heidi and Robin; son Robert (Judy) Paessler, granddaughter Kim (Todd) Krueger, great-granddaughters Payton and Ava, granddaughter Shelly (Timm)Schroeder, grandson Donald Dix and great-grandson Robert; daughter Janice (Bill) Hughes, granddaughter Stephani Hughes, grandson Chad (Brenda) Hughes, great-grandchildren Ian, Lukus, and Emilie; son Donald (Sandra) Paessler, grandson Christopher (special friend, Dawn) Paessler, great-grandchildren Ethan and Sophia Lynn, granddaughter Tracey (David) Birkholz, great-grandchildren Taylor, Jaxon, and Jordan, granddaughter Heather (R.J.) Chesterton, and great-grandchildren Henry James and Elijah Matthew.
