Age 83, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2003 at the Hospice at Cherry Meadows. She was born on July 24, 1920 in Thorp, Wisconsin the daughter of the late Guy R. and Elizabeth (Haas) Leiby. On June 22, 1946 she married John M. Hanamann, Sr. Agnella graduated from Weyauwega High School. She was an employee of Sears Roebuck and Co. for 25 years retiring in December of 1992. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was active in the Christian Mothers Society. Agnella enjoyed the Quilting Club, and the Coupon Group all at Sacred Heart and playing cards with friends.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be sadly missed by her three daughters Elizabeth (Roger) Bratz of Superior, Wisconsin, Margaret “Mugs” (Kenneth) Powers of Appleton, and Shirley (Ronald) Elkendier of Menasha; her sons John M. (Nadine) Hanamann, Jr. of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, Joseph M. (Suzan) Hanamann of Shawano and Jerome M. (Chong) Hanamann of Hortonville; 19 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law Mary Klem of Three Lakes, Wisconsin, Kathleen “Johnny” Hanamann of Neenah, two step sisters-in-law Alvera Boie of Thorp, Wisconsin, and Alice Timlin of Stanley, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her husband John in 1989.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Thursday, August 28, 2003 at 11:00 AM at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222 East Fremont Street with the Rev. Robert Karuhn officiating. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the time of the mass. A memorial fund is being established.
